Very good questions. I won't say that I know all the answers, but I'll give my opinions to your questions.

1. The name "Wicca" is just that. A name. It helps people get an idea quickly about what you believe (regardless of whether their interpretation of your beliefs is accurate). I find that I use different terms to describe myself, depending on who I am talking to. Sometimes I call myself Wiccan because to the person (or people) I'm talking with, "Wiccan" is the best label to describe myself for them.

I will tell other people more specific labels for myself, such as Hellenic Alexandrian Witch. Or more general label, such as Pagan.

Understand that these terms are still in their infancy. The Wiccan religion is only slightly more than 1/2 century old. the terms are changing and evolving as the religion (and related religions) develop.

Christianity, to take an example from history, took 200 years to solidify into a canonical definition, and that broke down during the Reformation.

My point in this is to describe yourself however you feel most comfortable. Just be ready to explain your beliefs more, for those times when you wish to clarify any misunderstanding.

2. I don't think you are wrong. Something you should consider is how you have developed after each "episode." I have done things that ended very badly for me, but I learned from them and the skill I learned ended up being essential to get through a tougher situation later.

I have also found that not doing as a deity suggested caused pain too, but I learned from that. Since I believe in many distinct deities, I have found that I need to not follow some Gods' suggestions because those Gods work in domains that are not in accord with my path. Jehovah is one example of such a deity that is in discord with my path.

I don't see actions as "right" or "wrong" in the traditional sense. Those terms are very judgmental and are the product of a monotheist culture. I prefer to see them, instead, in terms of whether the actions advanced me in my Great Work or not.

Does that help?

Thanks for posting your questions.

I have 2 questions and 1 comment.

I have been reading this blog since it was founded and I love everything you write, usually I am just content to read and stay as a lurker but now...

#1 I 'Became' Wiccan 17 years ago, I believed in Deities, real and literal until about 2 years ago and now while I still make the claim Wicca and follow the teachings from the path, I find myself only revering/worshipping the Earth and Universe, am I still Wiccan and if not, any idea what I am to do?

#2 I understand that we have free will to make our own decisions and choose where we go in this path but there have been times that I was told (By Goddess when I had belief in deity) to do certain things-I still had free will on whether or not I listened but I found that when I didnt do what was suggested, I missed out on oppertunities or I was thrown on my arse...and by the same token when I have done what I was told and all hell broke loose I never blamed being told, I accepted my choice to do what I was to do-or not...so I cant say I agree completely that there is nothing we have to do from time to time or should do...am I wrong?

Blessed Be

I'm glad it made sense to you. I've found that sometimes it is the simplest things that can lead one to the profound.

Thanks for the comment.

This is rather interesting even though majority of it should be "common sense" already.
